We accept all major medical aids. It is advisable to contact your medical aid prior to making an appointment as some medical aid plans may apply pre-conditions

Yes. We have paid under cover parking facilities available at the Durdoc Medical Centre in Durban and ample free secure parking in Kokstad and Matatie.

We have implemented a booking system with time slots as well as a new online booking system for Durban.

We do not dispense medication.

We will write out a prescription for medication to be purchased at any pharmacy.

Yes. We do offer consultations for all ages.

 Why are there 'dark rooms'?

Most people do not require a referral letter, but certain medical aid plans require it  in order to see a specialist. It is therefore advisable for patients to check with their medical aid first before making an appointment.

No. An Ophthalmologists completes a 4 years residency (hospital-based training) in the diagnosis and medical and surgical treatment of eye disorders. 

Is an Optometrist the same than an Ophthalmologist?

A consultation is for the consultation. The fee does not include any additional cost that may incur such as special investigations, tests, procedures and operations.  

What is a consultation fee and what will it cover?

It is not always easy to implement and adhere to bookings and time slots for Kokstad and Matatiele. We therefore operate mainly on a first come first serve  basis. All patients who come to our practice will however be attended to timeously.
